Some weeks ago, Marc (APAC Biz Dev) told us that a few people in Australia/New Zealand were interested in becoming SNO. Of the many volunteers from the Operations Team who were looking forward to visiting Sydney, Claire, Michael (Deployment Europe), Keith (Deployment APAC), and Jon (Support Europe) were appointed to go.
Time to pack: passport, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera… oops! A cavity filter and some SIGFOX goodies, as well. The typical bag of an operations staffer.
Once we arrived, we went straight ahead to Thinxtra headquarters (really fancy offices!) to start the technical training. No time to waste…
Everything was fine until we gave away the SIGFOX goodies provided by the COMS team. Adrian and Anat preferred to explore virtual reality.
After an intense training session, the following day was more, let’s say, casual! We ended up climbing to the top of the Sydney tower. Three hundred meters high, a 360° panoramic view… quite an experience! This is, in fact, the second-highest place in Australia.
Watching that, we heard that the SIGFOX team in Dubai (especially Thierry) seems to be interested in beating this record with the Burj Khalifa. We are afraid this will end up with Marion from the SIGFOX Foundation installing a base station on the top of Mount Everest. Or maybe a connected Virgin Galactic spaceship? (That one would be a nice entrepreneur love story between Ludovic and Richard).
In any case, it seems the SIGFOX team convinced the Thinxtra to become our SNO in Australia and New Zealand. Welcome aboard, guys!
It was a pleasure to talk to you about our daily life at Operations… it’ s not too difficult to operate a network when the SIGFOX Engineering Team provide you with good stuff! 🙂
